MAO Torino | Il Grande Vuoto
From sound to image. An unprecedented encounter with the Buddhist collection of MAO
from 6 May 2022 to 4 September 2022
The exposition “Il grande Vuoto. Dal suono all’immagine” (“The great Void. From sound to image”) opens with a large empty space. This is not, however, a true void, but rather a space that gradually saturates with the presence of notes by the young and multi-award winning Roman composer Vittorio Montalti, who for this occasion has composed the piece “Il Grande Vuoto” (“The Great Void”), where silences, rhythms, sonorities, and the echo of space itself become the mold and metaphor for the divine construction of ritual space: a work suspended between composition and sound installation that inhabits different spaces of the Museum.
