Table football or foosball, known in Italian as biliardino, fubalino, calcetto, calcino, pincanello, subotto, footbalino: these are all names that identify one of the most engaging, tactile, and resounding modern games. An almost centennial game that brings a universe of fully rounded perceptions into play, and which from a sonic point of view is a true forge of materials and ideas.
This sound action aims to recreate the typical atmosphere of a table football tournament by immersing the listener in a 360 degree sound landscape, as if they were placed right on the glass field of the game itself. The set consists of three foosball tables in line, with the audience around them, and in turn surrounded by loudspeakers.
Conceived as a participatory project, the score of this action takes place in approximately 180 minutes and articulates various formal moments where the general public and the competitive players will be allowed to alternate at playing actual matches. The sounds of the game (knocks, thuds, shouts, voices) are captured, processed, transcribed, and spread back out to the scenic space in order to create a constantly changing immersive environment.

The first staging of this project was held and conceived for PerAspera Festival 2023, in the foyer of MAMbo – Museo di Arte Moderna di Bologna.
