This live recording of the Tempo Reale Electroacoustic Ensemble (TREE), with guest conductor Elio Martusciello, is the first achievement of a new interesting collaboration between Tempo Reale and the French label Elli Records, active since 2014 and devoted to experimental electronic
music. The goal of this partnership is to distribute and promote a selection of recordings – mostly
unpublished – from the Tempo Reale archive. Elli takes care of the production (mix e mastering)
from the original stems. All albums are released on Elli’s Bandcamp (https://
ellirecords.bandcamp.com) and also on streaming platforms.
This first release presents the TREE ensemble as a septet: Francesco Canavese, electric guitar; Jonathan Faralli, percussions; Francesco Giomi, synthesizer; Salvatore Miele, live electronics; Giovanni Nardi, sax; Ogakuaw, live electronics; Guido Zorn, double bass. Recording
engineer is Damiano Meacci, with mix and mastering by Emanuele Battisti, who is also Elli
Records’ managing director. This album’s duration is 43 minutes, the recording is split in three parts. The performance presents a constantly dynamic interaction between the free instrumental improvisation and the gestural
direction of the conductor. The original recording was associated to a series of videos by
Martusciello himself (“To extend the visibility”) on the relationship between art and nature,
between order and chaos, and about the fragility of planet Earth. The graphic project for this series is by Alessio Santini, and presents on the artwork a set of three
visual symbols, each indicating a specific characteristic that helps defining this music:
“electroacoustic”, “improvisation”, “network”. Moreover, the graphic mask takes the shape of a
folder, as a reference to the Tempo Reale archive from which the recordings are taken.
This series of albums will continue with a second release in October: this new recording will present
the TREE ensemble in a 2020 live performance, under the conduction of Simone Faraci.
