SUONO GIARDINO, Guided sound walks in metropolitan public parks

“SUONO GIARDINO”, a cycle of guided sound walks, is one of the activities that Tempo Reale has been promoting for years to educate citizens to environmental sound. Imagined for metropolitan areas, the project focuses on the sound landscape of two public parks: the Castello dell’Acciaiolo park in Scandicci and the River Park of Lastra in Signa.

Originating from Canadian research from the 1960s/70s, the guided soundwalk experience is significant and useful for the reappropriation of urban locations designated for a public and aggregative use, focusing on the value of sound and on listening education.

The walks are guided by an experienced figure, capable of raising the audience’s awareness of topics such as the sound landscape, acoustic ecology, sustainable cities, and quality of life, involving people in a participatory process that is open to all, that can be implemented without the need for any musical background.

The walk lasts about an hour and comfortable clothing is recommended,; in case of bad weather the events will be postponed to a later date.
