MATER – sound work for 100 alphorns, architectural work and live electronics
    by Gabriele Marangoni

Mater is a large-scale work that makes use of the languages of contemporary music and is obtained using one of Switzerland’s most ancient and traditional instruments: the alpenhorn. An instrument with a magical and inimitable sound, capable of being heard from a distance of miles and of generating an incredibly dense sonic mass. This characteristic will be amplified by the amount of horns used, 100, which will be managed and processed with a live electronics system. A unique experiment in its field.
