FUORI CASTA. Orkestra Ristretta di Sollicciano in concert

The FUORI CASTA project for Opencity 2023 aims to organise a concert of the inmates’ Orkestra within the spaces of the prison complex and open to the public, creating a bridge between the “inside” and the “outside” and allowing the inmates to create a connection with civil society and feel that they are an integral part of it. For inmates, music is a way to make one’s voice heard, and having a public moment where they can express the work done on an ongoing basis through music workshops held by singer-songwriter Massimo Altomare, with the coordination of Tempo Reale, means on the one hand to motivate participation in the itinerary itself, and on the other to create an “imaginary space” where one may amplify and document a moment of one’s own life. It is a way to reaffirm one’s identity and tell one’s story, but with much more reverb. It is a way to not be forgotten. The concert will see the inmates of the Orkestra Ristretta dialogue through a mix of rap and trap songs (written by the inmates along with Altomare) and some freely customised pop-rock cover versions.
