SUONO GIARDINO | Guided sound walks and itineraries in metropolitan parks – II Edition
SUONO GIARDINO is a project aimed to educate citizens on environmental sound. Imagined for metropolitan areas, the project focuses on the sound landscape of four public parks: the Castello dell’Acciaiolo park in Scandicci, the River Park of Lastra in Signa, the park of Anconella and the Medici park of Pratolino.
Originating from Canadian research from the 1960s/70s, the guided soundwalk experience is significant and useful for the reappropriation of urban locations designated for a public and aggregative use, focusing on the value of sound and on listening education.
The walks are guided by an experienced figure, capable of raising the audience’s awareness of topics such as the sound landscape, acoustic ecology, sustainable cities, and quality of life, involving people in a participatory process that is open to all, that can be implemented without the need for any musical background.
