TRK. Sound Club, VI edition: October-November

A double soul for TRK. Sound Club, a mainstay of explorative music: in the afternoon, the latest experiences of the young live electronic music community, and in the evening events of unique importance within the international music scene. For the first time in Florence, the great US cellist Frances-Marie Uitti will perform in an extremely original trio followed by the Colangelo-Montalti duo of Italian composer-performers, borrowed from the instrumental scene and presenting a live performance for light and sound.

    WEDNESDAY, 16 OCTOBER

    > 19.00 hrs, Villa Strozzi, Studio B
    TRK. StudioLive
    Francesco Perissi
Cosimo Fiaschi + Pierluigi Foschi  | TRK. Open

Francesco Perissi is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, teacher, and sound engineer from Florence. After starting his career as a rock and post-metal drummer and guitarist, he then began to explore the world of digital audio. He continued his studies at the conservatories of Florence and Bologna, at the KMH of Stockholm, and has collaborated with Tempo Reale. For TRK. Open, Francesco Perissi is presenting X6, a project for a hexaphonic environment created by an electric guitar that separates the amplification fo the 6 strings, synths, voice, and soundscape. The musician may be in the centre or frontal, and guides listeners towards alternative textures of space.

Pierluigi Foschi and Cosimo Fiaschi first met in 2017, during the three-year coursed of Accademia Siena Jazz. They immediately started to play together and to share an interest in improvisation. The duo will be presenting Close position, a performance that originates from Pierluigi Foschi’s interest in the rhythmic elements caused by close frequencies. The instruments will be projected into space in the form of samples, in order to provide the timbre-harmonic texture with “close-up positions”.

    UPT | Unshieded Performance Trio

An instant composition trio that articulates its music through the sounds of the flute and of the cello, presented acoustically and processed electronically. The result is a dialogue between synthetic and sampled sounds, mixing contemporary sounds with those of the acoustic tradition. Extemporaneous combinatory relationships that create ever-changing musical forms, allowing us to take our thought and perception beyond the borders of what we can already imagine. These sound environments mix musical images from distant eras, which are now crossing through our timeline. One hour of intense sound experience, dedicated to unmediated listening.

Matilde Sabato + Leonardo Vita | TRK. Open
    Daniele Carcassi + Pierluigi Fantozzi

Matilde Sabato (vocals and electronics) and Leonardo Vita (prepared guitar and electronics) will present the improvisational set Motus Audiendi, which has movement and listening as its fundamental pillars. Through the languages of electroacoustic improvisation, the duo develops a dynamic and varied direction, born from proprioception, mutual listening, and the movement of thought (musical or otherwise). The two musicians, born in the Puglia region and living in Bologna, make their shared musical research a distinctive and unique trait, mixing their skills through evocative and meditative sound landscapes, saturating them to complete disintegration and metamorphosis.

The duo of Daniele Carcassi and Pierluigi Fantozzi presents a structured improvisation for modular synthesizer, bass clarinet, and live electronics, where different sonic worlds meet: electroacoustic music, jazz, free jazz, and Eastern European Popular Music.

Giulio Colangelo + Vittorio Montalti | LASCAUX, for electronics and reactive lights

LASCAUX originates from the collaboration between Stefania Ballone (dancer and choreographer), Giulio Colangelo, and Vittorio Montalti (composers and performers), based on the idea of creating a new performance with live dance and electronic music. The starting point is Georges Bataille’s text on the Lascaux caves and the birth of art; the performance re-traces the unconscious moment when the primordial creative impulse was generated, leaving its indelible trace over time.
For TRK. Sound Club, Giulio Colangelo and Vittorio Montalti are presenting a condensed version of the project for electronics and lights. The composers conceive the work as intermedial, with the light and sound components intersecting, creating a unique expressive medium. The use of self-built light systems controlled by a musical score creates a close connection between gesture, sound, and lights within a complex hyper-synchronized mechanism.
