TRK. Sound Club, edition VI: January – February

The new year opens with two new events within TRK., which now returns to its original name of “Sound Club”. The first concert, in January, hosts Adam Pultz Melbye (DK/DE), a double bass player, composer, researcher, and improviser based in Berlin, who has created the FAAB (feedback-actuated augmented bass), an instrument that blends acoustic and electronic sound creating a slowly evolving sonic narrative. The February concert hosts Valentina Magaletti (IT/UK), a versatile drummer and multi-instrumentalist who ranges across a multitude of instruments and objects with an eclectic and colourful style.
Every TRK. Sound Club event also includes one or two electroacoustic sets selected through the TRK. Open call.

    Adam Pultz Melbye

Adam Pultz Melbye is a double bass player, composer, improviser, and researcher. His work ranges from live performance to sound installation, from music for modern dance, theatre, and cinema to multimedia, sculpture, algorithmic design, and instrument making. He has given concerts and presented his works in Europe, Australia, United States, and Japan, and appears on almost 50 record releases. Adam often performs using semi-autonomous feedback systems, such as the FAAB (feedback-actuated augmented bass), a feedback double bass that he created in collaboration with Halldòr Ùlfarsson. He has obtained a PhD in music technology from the SARC (Sonic Arts Research Centre) of Queen’s University Belfast and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Intelligent Instruments Lab of Iceland University of the Arts. For TRK. Sound Club he is presenting the performance titled Buoyant, where he is developing the material from his latest solo album, Wade (Carrier Records), using his FAAB to create a slowly evolving sound fabric made with feedback from processed raw strings and field recordings.
