The Austrian ensemble Airborne Extended is an unusual quartet consisting of flute, recorder/Paetzold sub-great bass recorder, harp, and harpsichord: this unique instrumental combination allows to create a wide range of new sounds and colours, and over the past years has inspired several generations of composers from all over the world, resulting in the creation of specially written musical works. For Tempo Reale Festival, the ensemble will present the Italian premiere of a programme for quartet and electronics, with pieces written between 2012 and 2019, almost all composed specifically and characterised by a constant dialogue with electronics, which are the crucial fifth element of the concert: from the implementation of special transducers to the frantic use of motion sensors, arriving to an actual algorithmic composition.
