► RESIDENZE KATE | OPEN LAB
Presentations curated by resident sound artists

    1. Giovanni Lami
    Magnetic tape and digital devices

    2. Riccardo La Foresta
    Drummophone, bass drums

These two artists, among the most important representatives of a new generation of Italian sound experimenters, will present a concert based on the works developed during their residency at Tempo Reale. Lami has carried out a work of graphic transcription – using mobile apps in unconventional manners and subsequently digitally processing the results – starting from performance works which had been partially improvised within various areas of the centre, created with tape devices (Walkman portable cassette players) moving in space but with a fixed recording/listening point (reel-to-reel tape recorder). La Foresta will display the latest evolution of his self-made instrument: by generating resonance and vibrations on two bass drums, using compressors that push air towards the drumheads, the Drummophone allows the construction of an architecture of psychoacoustic sounds colliding in space, going against the very concept of percussion.

An event within the RESIDENZE KATE project
With the support by SIAE – Classici di Oggi 2018 -19

The Residenze Kate project is dedicated to the memory of Caterina Poggesi, a collaborator of the centre and promoter of its first structured programme of artistic residencies.
