Curated by Motus (France), with Pierre Couprie, Olivier Lamarche, Nathanaëll Raboisson
In occasion of Tempo Reale Festival, Y  e di Research sounds and music – Training 2019

An intensive workshop with the historical French collective Motus and their acousmonium, which will be installed at the Limonaia di Villa Strozzi during the Tempo Reale Festival (section Y). The workshop will focus on the interpretative practices of electro-acoustic music, briefly tracing its history, and giving participants the chance to experience it directly on the acousmonium, composed of 45 speakers and a total of 25 channels. Through practical exercises and the analysis of musical extracts, participants will be able to acquire working methods, interpretative parameters, practicing and increasing the management of interfaces for the live interpretation of music in a concert space.

The workshop is aimed towards composers also with little experience of sound diffusion, and professionals of the audio-visual sector who are particularly interested in music on recorded support. Before the beginning of the workshop, participants will have to analyse and memorise a dozen musical extracts, with a duration varying between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. These extracts will be provided after registration and used during the workshop. During the course, participants will also have the opportunity to play parts from their own compositions or from compositions of their choice, which however they will already have analysed and memorised before the beginning of the course. Pieces chosen must be strictly in stereo.

The workshop will also have a public presence in two special concerts, in which the participants will be able to play the works they have chosen; in addition, participants will be able to attend the two concerts curated by Motus dedicated to the historical and current repertoire, for free.
