LFO (In Space) and Glitch Party ft. Christ Pitsiokos for Elli Records

After a first release in February 2022 with “The Great Soundscape Session”, Elli Records and Tempo Reale are delighted to announce two new album releases. This artistic collaboration is aimed at distributing and promoting high quality music material belonging to the Tempo Reale archive or recordings. Street dates for these two albums are October 28 and November 4, 2022. Both are recent live recordings of the Tempo Reale Electroacoustic Ensemble (TREE).

The first release is called LFO – In Space, and presents a conducted group improvisation, i.e. a group improvisation in which a conductor interacts with the musicians, shaping the performance by means of a set of gestures. “LFO” is a method of transmission for conducted improvisation created by Francesco Giomi, inspired by the tradition of music conducting but also by techniques specific of electronic music. In this conducted improvisation, the TREE ensemble follows Simone Faraci’s lead to create a highly gestural and expressive performance. The deep interaction between acoustic and electronic instruments is here enhanced by the full use of the intensity spectrum, from pure silence to the most explosive fortissimo. On the other hand, the Glitch Party album takes its name from an improvisation scheme also created by Francesco Giomi, and based on the extensive use of residual materials typical of the glitch culture. According to this approach, the performers are totally free to join and to leave the improvisation whenever they want. The large instrumental palette of the TREE septet allows here for a deep investigation of the glitch theme : discontinuity, harshness, but also more subtle forms of fragmentation. This live recording features the Brooklin-based saxophonist Chris Pitsiokos as special guest.
