For the occasion of the reopening of the historical Giorgio Gaber Opera House of Milan, this event offers an immersion in the musical theatre of Stockhausen, in a unique performance that, for the first time in Italy, puts together his greatest masterpieces for flute and clarinet, written for his two muses and musicians, Suzee Stephens and Kathinka Pasveer. Roberta Gottardi and Laura Faoro, musical theatre experts and winners of the Stockhausen prize – Roberta in 2001, awarded by Stockhausen himself, and Laura in 2019 – with a meticulous study conducted directly with Suzee Stephens and Kathinka Pasveer, are bringing an “instrumental theatre” show to the stage, an unprecedented focus on Stockhausen’s greatest masterpieces for flute and clarinet: HARLEKIN for solo clarinet, KATHINKAs GESANG (or Lucifer’s Requiem) for flute and electronics, with the original scenography, in the staging created by Festival Aperto / Fondazione I Teatri Reggio Emilia, and AVE from MONTAG aus LICHT, for alto flute and basset horn. The concert avails itself of the technical partnership with Florence’s Tempo Reale centre for music production, research, and education. This event will also be linked with a workshop for students at the “Claudio Abbado” Civic School of Music in Milan, held by Laura Faoro and Roberta Gottardi, aimed at providing a detailed study of the compositions being represented.
